In honor of the Black artists, musicians, and visionaries who magnified movements in Black History and Culture, Tremé 4 Tremé, New Orleans Legacy Project, and the New Orleans African American Museum with the LPO have partnered to present the inaugural 2024 Historical and Cultural Music Series. The music presented in this two-night series represents the milestones of freedom from pre-Civil War New Orleans to the Civil Rights Movement.

Deepa Soul & The Love Soul Orchestra join the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra with special guests Erica Falls and Melanie Batiste to perform an incredible array of influential Black music written, composed, and/or made famous by Black People during the Civil Rights Movement like Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come,” Curtis Mayfield’s “Move on Up,” Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Happening Brother,” and more.
