Edgar Meyer Quintet
Distinguished double bassist Edgar Meyer – whose incredible career has included collaborations with the likes of Béla Fleck and Yo-Yo Ma – joins LPO musicians for a chamber music concert that blurs the lines between classical and jazz styles. The program opens with Cary Boyce’s Nightshade, described by the composer as a “funky” string quartet influenced by David Bowie and Sergei Prokofiev. Next, Meyer and LPO Principal Bassist Dave Anderson team up to perform Anderson’s own Seven Bass Duets. The concert concludes by showcasing Meyer’s impressive compositional skills, with his melodious Quintet for String Quartet and Double Bass.
