Amelia del Caño is excited to be joining the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra as acting section/contrabassoon for the 2022-2023 season. Prior to moving to New Orleans, she was a bassoon fellow at the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, FL.
During her summers, Ms. del Caño has been invited to fellowship programs such as the National Repertory Orchestra, Aspen Music Festival, Sarasota Music Festival and Blossom Music Festival.
Ms. del Caño is a two-time prizewinner in the Meg Quigley Vivaldi Competition, an international concerto competition for young women bassoon players. She was selected as a finalist in January 2021 and a semifinalist in January 2019.
Raised in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, Ms. del Caño is passionate about the well-being of our oceans and works to reduce her environmental footprint. In her free time, she enjoys doing yoga, cooking healthy recipes, and spending time with animals
