Joey Troia joins the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra as Fourth Horn for the 2022-2023 season. Joey grew up in the New Orleans area, and he studied with former member of the LPO, Matthew Eckenhoff during his years in high school. He attended Loyola University of New Orleans, earning a Bachelor of Music Education while studying with the Louisiana Philharmonic’s own Principal Horn, Mollie Pate. Joey then moved to Houston, Texas to study with Robert Johnson of the Houston Symphony at the University of Houston, Moores School of Music. His performance engagements include the Baton Rouge Symphony, Gulf Coast Symphony, Mobile Symphony, and Texas Music Festival Orchestras. While not performing, Joey loves to study cartography, culinary arts, and take care of his duo of cats and pet rats with his fiancée, Sarah.
