Day of Concert

Where can I park and how much does it cost?

For concerts at the Orpheum Theater, parking is located on streets and in garages in the Central Business District. Click here for information about parking at all LPO concert venues. 

When should I arrive for a concert?

We recommend showing up at least 30 minutes before concerts. This allows you time to park, get to the concert venue, and find your seats. Please see your ticket for door opening and performance start times.

What if I’m late?

Our ushers will let you into the hall at the earliest break in the performance that is not distracting for audience members. At the Orpheum Theater, late seating will take place on the Gallery (3rd) level. You may find your originally-assigned seats after intermission.

How long are concerts?

Most LPO concerts are approximately 90 minutes in length, and sometimes include a 20-minute intermission. Refer to the concert pages on our website for exact timings.

What public transportation options are available?

The Orpheum Theater is located in close proximity to many of the main streetcar and bus routes in town. Click here for a full listing of all RTA routes.

Dress & Etiquette

What should I wear?

There isn’t a dress code so that’s up to you! You may dress according to your personal preference, ranging from casual to formal, though business casual is the most popular choice.

When should I clap?

In the classical music world, some pieces of music are made up of multiple sections (called movements). Examples of these include symphonies and concertos. For these works, it’s a tradition for the audience to hold their applause until after the very last movement. If you are ever in doubt, it’s always safe to clap when everyone else does! Some performances are less formal than others so clapping is not discouraged if the performance moves you to do so.

What if I lose or forget my tickets?

We’ve got you covered! For ticket reprints before the concert, call LPO Patron Services at 504-523-6530, option 2 or email patron.services@lpomusic.com before 12:00pm the day of the performance. If you are already at the concert venue, stop by the LPO Patron Services desk near Will Call, and we’ll reprint them on-site.

Can I get a refund for my tickets?

The LPO does not issue refunds, but does offer exchanges.

Can I exchange my tickets for another concert?

For exchanges, call LPO Patron Services at 504-523-6530, option 2 or email patron.services@lpomusic.com. Patrons can also donate the value of their tickets as a tax deduction charitable contribution.

Do you offer student discounts?

Student tickets are available for $10 and while they can be purchased at the door, we encourage securing the ticket ahead of time. Student tickets are held Will Call and may only be picked up with a valid student ID. Advance student tickets are only available when purchased with a full-price ticket from Price Zone 3 or lower. To purchase student tickets in advance, call the LPO Patron Services Office at 504-523-6530, option 2.

Another option is our Student Passport – a $25 season pass to all of our concerts.

Are accessible seats available?

The LPO offers seating for individuals with accessible needs. Accessible seats may be purchased over the phone by calling LPO Patron Services at 504-523-6530, option 2.

May I bring a large group to an LPO event?

Yes, the LPO offers exclusive ticket discounts for groups of 10 people or more! Visit our Groups page to learn more and submit a ticket request for your group.

General/Other

Are children allowed?

The LPO offers many exciting opportunities for young people, including Family Concerts, Parks Concerts, and family-friendly holiday concerts. The LPO’s traditional classical concerts, however, are not appropriate for children under the age of 6. Click here for more information about all of the LPO’s family and educational offerings.

May I photograph or record concerts?

All photography and video recording of LPO events is prohibited without explicit and written permission from orchestra administration.

Are food and beverages available at LPO concerts?

The Orpheum Theater offers a variety of bar services and drinks are allowed in the concert hall. Food and beverages are not permitted inside performance halls unless otherwise advertised. Music at the Museum policies vary by performance venue; check concert page for specific food and beverage policies.

How do I find out if an outdoor concert is rained out or canceled?

The LPO monitors the weather conditions closely for all outdoor events. If a performance should be postponed or cancelled, the LPO will let you know as soon as possible via telephone, text message, or email as well as updating the website.

Does the LPO perform free concerts?

The LPO performs free park concerts in many regions, including in New Orleans, Metairie, Mandeville, and Slidell! Check the upcoming events calendar for more information.
