DURATION: Approximately 100 minutes, including intermission.

This final Orpheum session of the season begins with music from Jennifer Higdon’s first opera, Cold Mountain, based on Charles Frazier’s best-selling novel (and subsequent film) of the same name. Next is the most famous of Franz Liszt’s twelve symphonic poems, Les préludes. We end the final concert of the series with Brahms’ penultimate symphony,
the intense and richly romantic Symphony No. 3.
