A Tribute to Roberta Flack, Featuring Erica Falls

  • Orpheum Theater 129 Roosevelt Way New Orleans, LA (map)

DURATION: Approximately 120 minutes, including intermission.

The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra welcomes New Orleans soul singer Erica Falls for an evening honoring one of music's most enduring voices. Roberta Flack's catalog, from "Killing Me Softly with His Song" to "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," shaped generations of singers who came after her. Falls is one of them.

Falls grew up in the 9th Ward, where her parents played Roberta Flack alongside Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone, planting the seeds of a sound she still carries onstage today. Offbeat Magazine has twice named her Best Female Vocalist, and she has shared stages and studios with Allen Toussaint, Sting, Jennifer Hudson, and John Fogerty. With the LPO's full orchestral sound behind her, Falls brings Flack's songbook to life with the warmth and intimacy that made the originals unforgettable.
