This theatrical concert begins with Gershwin’s Promenade, also known as “Walking the Dog” from the Fred Astaire film Shall We Dance, followed by Samuel Barber’s Violin Concerto featuring esteemed soloist Sirena Huang. The evening continues with Duke Ellington’s milestone “jazz symphony” and Leonard Bernstein’s energetic music from Broadway’s West Side Story.
