Claire Kostic is joining the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra as 2nd/Assistant Principal Oboe for the 2026–2027 season. Originally from Long Island, New York, She is the Principal Oboe of the Winston-Salem Symphony and has held contracts with the Houston Grand Opera and the Charleston Symphony.
Claire has served as Principal Oboe of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería in Mexico City since 2019, performing under the direction of Carlos Miguel Prieto during the orchestra’s summer seasons. With the Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería, Claire has toured coast to coast across the United States twice and has performed at the Bravo! Vail Music Festival.
Her orchestral experience also includes performances with the Houston Symphony, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, North Carolina Symphony, The Florida Orchestra, Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and Richmond Symphony, among many others. She has also performed extensively with the Monarch Chamber Players in Houston.
Claire holds a Master of Music and an Artist Diploma from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, where she studied with Robert Atherholt. She earned her Bachelor of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with Frank Rosenwein, and began her pre-college studies at The Juilliard School with the late Richard Dallessio.
In addition to her performing career, Claire maintains a private oboe studio and enjoys sharing her experience with the next generation of oboists.
