Violinist Daniel Guangnan Yue has been a member of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra since January 2019.
Daniel was born in Datong, China, and began playing the violin before age three. Daniel was selected for the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing with the highest ranking. At age of 13, Daniel was invited to play a concert with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. In 2006, He received an honorable prize in the 8th National Youth Violin Competition in Qingdao, China. In 2007, he received a full scholarship to study at the Morningside Music Bridge on a full scholarship in Calgary, Canada. The following year, he appeared in concert with China National Symphony Orchestra and attended the Great Wall International Music Academy Summer Camp on full scholarship. In 2008 was the Silver Prize in the 2008 China Central Television Piano & Violin Competition. While in school, Daniel then went on to serve as the Concertmaster of the Chinese Juvenile Symphony Orchestra. He has also attended the Lipinski-Wieniawski International Competition in Poland, and the Sixth International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in South Korea.
In April 2010, Daniel was invited by Anne Sophie Mutter to play in Shanghai. Shortly thereafter, Daniel was admitted to The Juilliard School Pre-College Division, to study under full scholarship in the studio of Lewis Kaplan. From 2010 to 2013, he continuously receives full scholarships at the Bowdoin International Music Festival in Brunswick, Maine. In 2014 and 2016, he was admitted to the Conservatoire Américain de Fontainebleau in France with a full scholarship, and in 2017 at the Portland Bach Music Festival.
He played his debut at Carnegie Hall in 2013 after winning the KBS New York International Violin Competition. In 2013, he performed with the Yokohama Chamber Orchestra in Japan at the Sendai International Music Competition. In 2014, the year he got into The Juilliard School, he was invited by the Christie’s Auction House to present the 1731 Kreutzer Stradivarius violin and played it at the auction party. Recently, he appeared in numerous concerts in China and was invited by the Hong Kong International Music Festival to serve as a faculty and jury member in both the festival’s music camp and competition. In 2018, he was invited to perform in the UK in prestigious locations such as the House of Parliament and the Institute of Directors In 2020, he was appointed as the Education Director at the Hawaii International Music Festival.
