Mario Mojica returns to the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra as Principal Trumpet, following an exciting season as 3rd/Assistant Principal Trumpet. A native of Dallas, Texas, Mario continues to build an active career as an orchestral, chamber, and solo musician. Additionally, he has recently joined the faculty at Loyola University as Adjunct Professor of Trumpet.
Mario holds a Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from Southern Methodist University, where he studied under Dallas Symphony Orchestra members Stuart Stephenson and Kevin Finamore. He earned his Bachelor of Music from Baylor University, studying with Wiff Rudd and Mark Schubert.
His favorite concerts thus far include LPO’s performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Strauss’s An Alpine Symphony with the Aspen Festival Orchestra, performing alongside Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra at the Brevard Music Festival, and concerts with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Internationally, Mario has toured extensively, including performances at the AIMS Festival in Austria, concerts as lead trumpet in the 2022 Baylor Jazz Ensemble Scotland Tour, and several recitals with the SMU Graduate Brass Quintet in Italy.
Outside of the concert hall, Mario is an avid cook and hiker, and a loyal but sometimes too-passionate supporter of the Dallas Cowboys.
