Milena Rusanova

A native of Bulgaria, Milena Rusanova joins the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in 2023.
Previously she has been performing with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, Mobile Symphony, Gulf Coast, Baton Rouge, Acadiana Symphony, Louisiana Sinfonietta, South Arkansas, Meridian Symphony Orchestras, and in Bulgaria- Chamber Orchestra “Orpheus.”
Milena began studying the violin at age of five at the School of the Arts in Ruse, Bulgaria. She earned her BA in Violin Performance from the Bulgarian National Conservatory and MM from the Southeastern Louisiana University. While in Bulgaria she was a Finalist of the National Competition for violinists in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. In USA Milena was a winner of the State level of the MTNA Young Artists Strings Competition, South- Central Division Competition and proceeded to the National Finals in Canada, Toronto. She was winner of the Monroe Young Concerto Competition and Southeastern Concerto Competition. She played as a Soloist with the State Academy Symphony Orchestra-Sofia, Bulgaria, Monroe Symphony, Southeastern Chamber Orchestra, Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra in Jackson, MS, Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, and Jackson State University. Milena has participated at Different music festivals and concert series in USA and Europe some of which include the Klavier Music in Reichenay, Austria and Aspen Music Festival.
Milena has been a member of Marta Szlubowska Ensemble, Mississippi String quartet, Fondren string quartet and has performed in “James Sclater” Chamber music series in Mississippi College and recitals at Jackson Museum of Art. She has taught strings at MSO string program, privately and was adjunct at Jackson State University.
