Paul Armitage*

Paul Armitage is a trumpet player from Sharpsburg, Georgia, joining the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra for their 2025-2026 season as acting second trumpet. Paul has an affinity for old and new styles alike, previously performing with the Houston Grand Opera, performing on natural trumpet with Bach Collegium — Fort Wayne, and having been featured as a soloist with Indiana University's New Music Ensemble on György Ligeti's Mysteries of the Macabre. In the summers, Paul has been a fellow at Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Brass Institute, Taipei Music Academy and Festival, Music Academy of the West, and the American Brass Quintet Seminar at Aspen. Paul received a Master of Music from Rice University, studying with Barbara Butler, and a Bachelor of Music from Indiana University, studying with John Rommel and Dr. Kris Kwapis. His other principal teachers include Michael Tiscione, Dr. Brandon Craswell, and Karl Liberatore.
