Tanner Stegink*

As an in-demand freelance musician in New York, Tanner has established a wide-reaching career, appearing with the Bronx Opera, Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra, Santa Fe Symphony, Albany Symphony, the Manhattan Horn Authority, the Syracuse Symphony, and Brooklyn’s Fort Greene Philharmonic. He is an original member of the New York City Brass Choir and the Pentaptic Brass Quintet, and was the first tubist granted a second year with the American Institute of Musical Studies in Austria.

Tanner has participated in Mardi Gras with Krewe Boheme since 2024, and is a member of the famous L Train Brass Band. He has also performed with Ad Hoc Brass Band, Darktide, Off-The-Bar Brass, Hudson Horns, the Brass Queens, and the legendary Shrine Big Band.

 As a soloist, Tanner performed Barbara York’s War and Rumors of War as the winner of the University of New Mexico Symphony Orchestra’s concerto competition; he also performed the American premier of the Dutch composer JacobTV’s Grab It!!! for tuba.

In addition to performing, Tanner is deeply committed to arts education, and has taught music in Elementary, Middle School, High School, and Collegiate levels, and maintains a small private studio of brass students. He is a regular substitute brass instructor at the Juilliard Music Advancement Program, and served as the 2025 Tuba teaching artist with Carnegie Hall's Link Up! Program.

Tanner lives in Morningside Heights in Manhattan, he enjoys BBC podcasts, Vietnamese food, and rainy weather.
