Michael Hull is joining the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra for their 2026-2027 season as acting assistant principal trumpet. Since moving to Louisiana, he has served as an educator in the public and private school systems while maintaining an active freelance career. Michael enjoys playing all styles of music, and can be found performing with orchestras, chamber groups, commercial bands, jazz bands, and in musical theater pits. He has been fortunate to perform on the same bill with artists such as Flo Rida, Gwen Stefani, Katy Perry, and Sting.
Michael holds a graduate degree in performance from Louisiana State University, where he studied with Dr. Brian Shaw and Dr. Matthew Vangjel, and bachelor's degrees in performance and education from Hastings College, where he studied with Dr. Daniel Laing. Michael participated in the Chosen Vale Trumpet Seminar and previously served on the faculty for the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.
When he is not performing or teaching, Michael is spending time with his wife, Gabi, and their chiweenie, Homie, or catching up on LSU and Nebraska Huskers football highlights. Geaux Tigers! Go Big Red!
