Zorica Dimova

Zorica Dimova is originally from Bulgaria. She started playing the violin when she was 5 years old. At 9 she joined the Youth Orchestra with which she toured Europe and won various awards. Mrs. Dimova graduated from the National Music Conservatory “Pancho Vladigerov” in Sofia, Bulgaria. She was featured as a soloist of the symphony orchestra in Stara Zagora and the State Academy Symphony Orchestra performing Mozart Violin Concerto No. 5, Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D major, and Brahms Violin Concerto in D major. Before coming to the United States, Zorica was a member of Bankya Chamber Orchestra and New Symphony Orchestra. She joined the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in 2003. During the summers, she played with the Missouri Symphony Orchestra and Music in the Mountains Music Festival. She has also performed with Illinois Symphony Orchestra, Orlando Philharmonic, and Nashville Symphony. Zorica is an active solo and chamber musician as well as an educator. She performs in collaboration with many different groups in US and abroad and gives master classes.
Mrs. Dimova is on the faculty at NOCCA and Southeastern Louisiana University, teaching applied violin/viola, chamber music, and orchestra repertoire. She also maintains private studios in Mandeville and New Orleans. Many of Zorica’s students have won awards and scholarships from competitions and music organizations such as Music Teachers National Association competition, Junior Philharmonic Society of New Orleans, Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra Concerto competition, Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra Concerto Competition, Louisiana Music Teachers Association String Rally, Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Philadelphia International Music Festival. Mrs. Dimova’s students were accepted with full scholarships in the music programs of Oberlin Conservatory, Yale University, and LSU. Some already hold principal and section positions at different orchestras in US and others became music teachers.
Zorica Dimova holds a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Violin and Viola Performance from Louisiana State University.
